As a visual artist, I explore the themes of natural history, mortality and transience of life, focusing on and examining historical artifacts.
A contemporary scenario is given to the interpretation of Victorian post-mortem photographs, emphasizing the significance of the use and the underlying philosophical currents of photography as a means to provide memento mori, to achieve awareness of our own mortality.
By creating portraits of haunting serenity and developing striking theatrical tableaux the viewer is invited to contemplate death, his own future, which by ultimate necessity holds oblivion.
